Our hospital is a private, not-for-profit organization in the beautiful White Mountains of Northeastern Arizona. We respond to the health care needs of more than 40,000 permanent and seasonal residents living in a 3,000 square mile area. We are seeking an experienced Coder. Must be CPC, CCS, CPC-H Certification. This is a Full-time Day position. Must have a minimum of 1 year experience acute care hospital coding. Thorough knowledge of medical records, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding.

The Coder is responsible for complete and accurate assignment of ICD-9-CM and CPT codes in accordance with current internal and external coding guidelines. The Coder will abstract clinical, demographic and quality information from medical records for statistical, indexing and third party payor reimbursement purposes. The Coder supports Coding Supervisor’s auditing, reporting and educational functions as appropriate.

The Coder exhibits an excellent working knowledge of Diagnostic Related Groups, sequencing of procedure and diagnosis codes and selection of Principal diagnosis and procedure codes in addition to an understanding of Peer Review Organization quality initiatives and Medicare reimbursement guidelines.
